The manual for learning HS

HS is the global classification of goods. Learn the 6-digit core and country extensions.

1. What is HS?

The World Customs Organization assigns a six-digit code to goods in international trade, and national tariffs are based on this core.

2. The structure of HS-6

  • 2 digits — Fa Delete(2)
  • 4 digits — Position four.
  • 6 digits — HS-6 subheading (6)

Example: 6109.10 ¢ cotton knit shirt. The same HS-6 applies in every country; it only changes after the 6th house.

3. National extensions

Countries add digits for statistics and tax rows:

  • TR GTİP-12 — Turkey-only national extension of HS-6 (12 digits)
  • US HTS-10 — Harmonized Tariff Schedule (official file)
  • GB UKGT-10 — UK Trade Tariff (official snapshot)
  • EU CN-8 — Combined Nomenclature (official snapshot)
  • EU TARIC-10 — CN-8 + 00 baseline (measures separate)
  • BR NCM-8 — Siscomex NCM (official API)
  • AU / CA / NZ / JP / SG — HS-6 rooted coverage until full official bulk is wired

Call HS-6 (or product name) on E5; switch to country codes from the World bar.

4. The code is Delete is there?

  • Give a clear description of the product (material, form, use).
  • Call HS or run the classification wizard.
  • Open up the HS-6 detail and compare it to national counterparts.
  • Check with a licensed customs advisor before declaring.
